A Couple of Surprises

The Bride: Brianne Roenbeck
The Groom: Jesse La Flair
Wedding Date: September 10, 2010
Venue: Gurney's Inn

Grand romantic gestures are somewhat of a trademark for actor and stuntman, Jesse La Flair, who first caught Brianne Roenbeck’s attention in the ninth grade by leaving a carnation on her seat during choir class followed by a love letter in which he invited her to a movie. Nearly 10 years later, he organized a treasure hunt that that ended with a clue attached to a shovel, which Brianne used to unearth a wooden chest. Inside of which she found a diamond ring. On September 10, 2010, it was Brianne’s chance to surprise Jesse with her own romantic gesture during their ocean-inspired wedding ceremony and reception at Gurney’s Inn in Montauk, New York – the actress and aspiring singer stood in front of their 160 guests and revealed, a cappella, a song that she had written just for him.
Ceremony – Private Views
Gurney’s Inn, situated on the eastern tip of Long Island on Montauk’s southern shore, hosted the couple’s ceremony on 1,000 feet of private beach facing the Atlantic.

Theme – Atlantic Backdrop
The venue’s oceanfront location inspired an ocean theme found in the couple’s turquoise color scheme, starfish-embellished DIY invitations, and freestanding table numbers made with sand, seashells, and sea glass.

Reception – Open Air Cocktails
Immediately following the ceremony, guests mingled on the inn’s rooftop sundeck while enjoying a brilliant blue signature cocktail made with vodka, white cranberry juice, lime, and blue Curaçao liqueur.
Bridal Attire – A Swell Gown
“I chose it because the ruffles reminded me of waves, and I wanted a fabric that would move gracefully in Montauk’s [inevitable] ocean breeze,” says the bride of her Lazaro gown featuring tiered ruffles cascading down to a dropped waist and fitted bodice. She paired it with a set of bright turquoise jewelry.

Groom’s Attire – White as Well
Jesse wore a custom-made white linen suit tailored by Kleinfeld in Manhattan. The crisp linen paired well with a soft blue–striped shirt and white Cole Haan loafers accented with tan leather.

Flowers – Coastal Blooms
Blue delphinium provided the pop in Brianne’s white bouquet of dahlias and Montauk daisies. Accents of beach grass, ferns, and exposed stems gave it a loosely gathered feel. The boutonnieres included tiny starfish and white orchids, while tall centerpieces featured curly willow and blue delphinium.
