Ferry Tales

The Bride: Breanne Olson
The Groom: Patrick Ross
Date: March 12, 2011
Venue: Ferry Terminal (Bellingham, WA)

They say that rain on your wedding day is good luck, and when you choose to get married in the Pacific Northwest, your chances are high. For Breanne Olson and Patrick Ross, who exchanged vows at the Bellingham Ferry Terminal in Bellingham, Washington, on March 12, 2011, the rain arrived just before the ceremony. “It is the Northwest after all,” Breanne explained just before she described that for their outdoor photos, she traded her chocolate brown Guess heels for black, polka-dot rain boots and splashed through puddles while tucked under an umbrella next to Patrick.
Venue
The Bellingham Ferry terminal boasts sprawling views of Bellingham Bay, which can be seen through several floor-to-ceiling windows with giant panes. One large room was used for both the ceremony and reception.
Bridal Attie
Breanna donned a strapless lace sheath gown from the Morilee by Madline Gardner collection. She accented the silhouette with a charcoal satin sash that gathered at the back in a bow, its ends touching the gown’s train.

Ceremony
The vows were exchanged in front of a sweeping window overlooking the bay, flanked by ivory pedestals blooming with pink roses and curly willow and framed by white lights, which glowed against the storm-filled sky.

Reception Décor
Black, pink, and ivory dominated the color scheme décor inside the terminal. Brick walls were lined with glowing white lights, and large chandeliers hung from the ceiling, illuminating the large room.

Breanne’s four bridesmaids looked stunning in unique, lace halter-top dresses with black satin skirts from Watters.

Wedding Cake
The four-tiered, floral-embellished, ivory wedding cake was baked by Breanne’s aunts. Underneath the three-dimensional flowers and meticulously applied icing, guests found a coconut cake with chocolate ganache.
