Into the Woods

Though Andrea and Dylan hailed from Manhattan, they wanted a setting for their September wedding that felt removed from the frenetic pace of the city to turn it into a four-day fall retreat with their closest friends and family.  Tucked high in Vermont’s Green Mountains, the Mountain Top Inn & Resort’s 350 rambling acres provided the destination they were looking for.

The Theme - A Natural Fall Wedding
In planning the event, the mountains and season set the tone for details with a natural theme.  The couple selected an organic/local menu and recycled-paper invitations.  Andrea also chose her colors to reflect the fiery autumn foliage.  Perhaps the finishing touch was the escort cards, which came tied around the most iconic of Vermont favors: small bottles of fresh maple syrup.

The Flowers - Autumn Colors
Andrea carried a bouquet of maroon and orange calla lilies while each bridesmaid held a bright, fall-inspired bouquet that differed slightly, much like their individually chosen black cocktail dresses.

The Cake - A Fitting Web Find
Like most brides, Andrea searched the Web for wedding cake pictures.  and saved a photo she found online for her ideal cake.  Set upon a stand made from a wooden log and decorated with petite branches and lifelike birds, the almond cake alternated layers of ganache and mocha butter cream with layers of lemon curd and blueberries.
