Simple Elegance Realized

“Simple elegance” is somewhat of an industry cliché in the bridal world.  A surprising majority of brides who describe their weddings this way wind up with either over-the-top galas or weddings that may be simple, but lack any real elegance.  It may be a common theme, but “simple elegance” is rarely pulled off properly.

Not so for Carye and Darby’s July 27 waterfront wedding at Beckwith Pointe in New Rochelle, NY.  From the classic red and white roses, to the three-tiered white wedding cake, to the white satin wedding dress minimally adorned a single line of silk covered buttons, every detail came together to portray a wedding that was indeed, simple yet elegant.

Wedding Flowers

Carye chose classic red and white roses, the perennial wedding flower, to anchor her floral scheme designed by Acadia Floral.  She carried a bouquet of clustered red roses while her maids carried similar bouquets in white.  She topped reception tables with red roses and candelabras.

Wedding Dress

Rather than allowing herself to get carried away by the profusion of overwhelming ball gown silhouettes and gaudy embellishments, Carye made sure that her wedding dress selection reflected her desire to stick to the classics. She chose a simple, white satin gown minimally adorned on the back with satin covered buttons from the top to the hem.

Wedding Favors

In lieu of traditional wedding favors, Carye and Darby donated to two charities in the name of their guests.  They selected organizations that held special personal meaning – the American Heart Association in memory of Darby’s father who passed away a month before their wedding, and the National Parkinson’s Foundation in honor of Carye’s grandfather who was unable to travel to the event due to the disease.

Lasting Memory

In the end, Carye and Darby succeeded in pulling off a simple wedding that remained true to the real importance of the day – celebrating their marriage with their closest family and friends.  Instead of focusing on the details designed to impress, they centered their wedding on having a good time and creating a day where guests laughed, danced and made merry.  Perhaps because of this, Carye and Darby succeeded in truly enjoying their wedding day.
